Import behavior
Reference for what Readwise sync does and does not do in Lexorium.
When sync runs
- Import now in Settings
- Fetch from Readwise in the header
- Automatically when you open your card library if a key is saved and the last sync was more than 12 hours ago (or never)
Saving an API key alone does not sync.
What sync imports
- Highlights whose notes match the annotation syntax
- Source metadata from Readwise when available
- Language from the
vocab/vocab:languagetag
Each sync pulls your Readwise export and filters for vocab tags (not a tiny “only new since yesterday” feed).
Create vs update
- New matching highlights become new cards.
- Existing cards linked to the same highlight update from Readwise unless you edited that card in Lexorium.
- Edited Lexorium cards are skipped so local changes are kept.
What sync does not do
- Does not push Lexorium edits back to Readwise
- Does not delete Lexorium cards when highlights are removed or untagged in Readwise
- Does not overwrite cards with local edits
After sync
Lexorium attempts to fill missing definitions and translations. You can also run Populate missing definitions in Settings.
