Before you start

Steps

  1. Open Read.
  2. Find the work in your library (title, English title, author, and language are listed).
  3. Select the text to open the reader.

Read library

On larger screens the original language appears on the left and each section’s English translation on the right. Span translations you create from a selection stack under that section’s English. On small screens the English and your panels sit below the source.

If the work is not in English, use Primary Language to switch between the original language (default) and a fading English translation. In English mode, words you have practiced well appear in the original language. Tap a dotted English word to look up the original and save it; after you practice those cards, more of the text reverts to the original language.

Hover a highlighted original-language word to open its vocabulary card without leaving the page. The card names the dictionary form under Lemma and how that word is working in the sentence under Used here as, so you can see which ending you are reading. Press Esc or click elsewhere to close it.

If you see No texts yet, click Browse the Store and purchase or claim a text package. Vocabulary-only packages do not appear under Read.

  • You must own the text package to open it.
