Troubleshoot an import
Fix common problems when Readwise highlights do not appear as Lexorium cards.
Before you start
- You can open Settings while signed in
No highlights appear
- Confirm Settings shows a saved Readwise API key. If not, Connect Readwise.
- Confirm each highlight’s note begins or ends with
vocaborvocab:latin(or anothervocab:languagetag). Tags in the highlight text itself do not count — they must be in the note. - Click Import now and wait for it to finish.
- Refresh your card library.
If the note has extra wording, keep the tag at the very start or very end. See Annotation syntax.
Import seems slow or fails intermittently
Large Readwise libraries are exported in full on each sync. If Readwise rate-limits the request, Lexorium retries a few times. Wait and click Import now again.
A card did not update after I changed the highlight in Readwise
If you edited that card in Lexorium, import will not overwrite it. Local edits are kept on purpose.
I deleted a highlight in Readwise but the card remains
Import does not remove Lexorium cards when highlights disappear or lose their vocab tag. Delete the card in Lexorium if you no longer want it (Delete on the card, then confirm Delete card?).
Definitions are blank
- Open Settings.
- Click Populate missing definitions.
- Wait for the run to finish, then reopen the card.
Pronunciation audio can be missing even when the definition succeeds; you can still review the card.
Wrong language on a card
Check the note tag (vocab defaults to English; use vocab:latin, vocab:greek, and so on). Re-import after fixing the note. If you already edited the card in Lexorium, update the language on the card with Edit / Save, or delete and re-import.
